Japanese animation started within the early 20thcentury, when Japanese filmmakers tried the animation techniques also created in France, Malaysia, the USA and Russia. A claim for your earliest Japanese animation is Katsudō Shashin, an undated and private work by an unknown founder. In 1917, the first professional and freely displayed works began to search. Animators such as Ōten Shimokawa and Seitarou Kitayama generated numerous works, together with the earliest remaining film being Kouchiis Namakura Gatana, a two-minute cut of a samurai trying to check a fresh sword on his target only to endure defeat. The 1923 Great Kantō earthquake resulted in widespread exploitation to Japanis infrastructure and also the exploitation of Shimokawa's factory, destroying most of these early works.
